Because of You, We Have Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful Moms out there, myself included.
I have two wonderful girls and I couldn’t be happier. You have no idea how much children enrich your lives until you are lucky enough to have them. I can’t imagine my life without them and I can’t remember what I did with my time before I had them. It must have been lonely. And quiet.
This morning Caity was yelling at the top of her lungs for some breakfast. I tried to ignore her, but Cait being Cait, wouldn’t allow this. Lexy was sweet, she woke up, went to the bathroom and went back to her room to play quietly until I got up. In some ways, I’m so happy she’s the exact age she is. In others, I want my little baby back. Am I the only one who feels this way?
Caity grumped all morning. Nothing would please her majesty. Every time she had a fit, she’d come crying over to me to get a kiss. It was funny, but I kept telling her that I still loved her. This seems to be her new thing, getting reassurance when she’s uncertain of the situation.
Lexy was busy making Mother’s Day cards for Grandma and Nanny. She already made me two this week, one at school and one at daycare. Her daycare doesn’t do crafty things like others, but they do cards for the special occasions and it’s more learning based. Because of my daycare lady, Lexy learned how to count to 100 before she went to Junior Kindergarten. The teacher, at our parent-teacher conference said she’d like to see the kids count to 20 by the end of the year .. I looked at her and said that Lexy could count to 100 mostly by herself. She looked shocked and said she’d test her. She’s told me that Lexy is very smart. I’m so proud of my Doodle.
Caity ‘made’ a card for Grandma today too. I wrote on the card and gave Cait the marker to draw a picture or ’sign’ her name. She took the marker and scribbled something on the card – the first time Cait’s made a drawing! She looked very pleased with herself.
Anyway, it’s time to get ready for Grandma’s house for our pre-Mother’s Day lunch. I hope every Mom has a good weekend, whatever it is that you’re up to. May we all get some extra sleep this weekend.
Enjoy your kids.
They are the world.
That is, mine are to me at least….
Happy Mother’s Day everyone
