…And Bells on Her Toes

Caity has another new trick.  She likes to shush us.  She holds her pointer finger to her mouth and goes sssssss, sssssss.  She means ’shhhhh’ but she sounds more like a snake.

When she’s done shushing us she starts in with the “nooooo” and the finger waggle.

Really, it’s cute.

And the other day she started counting.  I had her in the family room, in her portable chair and she was eating her dinner.  She’d pick up a carrot and go “wooonnnn”, then another one “tooooooo”, then she’d start again, “wooonnnn”, “toooooo”.  Sometimes she’d hit “treeeeee” and we even ended up with “wooonnnn”, “toooooo”, “fiiiiiiiiii” – or five.

It’s amazing how your kids grow up right in front of your eyes.  If you blink, you’ll miss it.

Lexy and Alex went to his Dad’s place on Sunday and they bought Caity a really cool gift.  The Busy Ball Popper.  Normally I’m not one for noisy kid toys as they’ve been known to end up on top of the Armoire (the place where noisy toys go to die), but this one is different.  When you press the red button, the toy plays one of eight tunes and five balls blow out the top.  It’s a great toy and Caity loved it immediately.  She now knows how to turn on the toy and can even put the balls back in the right spot, most of the time.
