I Thought You Were Watching Her…?

OK. With a husband that works shift work, I end up doing most of the parenting.
My day looks like this: I get up, most days I get to shower before I get the kids up, dressed, fed, play chase the Toddler in an attempt to get them into their Winter clothes, bring the kids to School or Daycare (depending on the day), go to work, attend any doctor’s appointments or School meetings, leave work, pick the kids up from Daycare, get them out of the Winter clothes, make dinner for them, try to do work at home while they’re running around, give up on working, help Lexy with homework, watch them beat each other for a while, put the kids to bed, make bottles and lunches for the next day, get clothes ready for the next day, finally get some work done from home, go to bed in an exhausted heap…
Lather, rinse, repeat.
My Husband’s day looks like this: He gets up, showers, goes to work. He comes home from work. He changes, goes downstairs and plays Warcraft until he’s hungry enough to ask where dinner is.
Who’s list is longer?
So we changed things up a little bit. On the current shift my Hubby is on, he gets home about 40 minutes after we do. He changes, goes downstairs to play Warcraft until he’s hungry enough to ask where dinner is. The difference? He takes the kids downstairs with him. I have some peace to finish working.
Problem is, and I’ve argued with him ad nauseum that when the kids are downstairs, you actually have to parent.
So this morning, after we got him out of bed, he decided to take the kids downstairs.
It got very quiet.
Then I heard a lot of yelling.
Then I heard “Show Mum Mum what you did!!!”.
Then this happened.
…
And this …

and this …

and this …
and this is what she looked like on her way to the bathtub …

Mind you, Caity was very proud of her accomplishment. Doesn’t my husband realize that a quiet Toddler is a Toddler who’s up to no good … ?
I hauled her up to the bathroom while said husband returned to Warcraft … She’s bathed now. She’s cleaner. Good thing it was mostly those kids’ washable markers … unfortunately one of them was a whiteboard marker… it will take a few more baths to get it off her feet. Did you notice the marker on her teeth and tongue?
*sigh*
OK Nico, I’m ready …
