Yeah, OK, I’m Tired.

I went to work today because I had a client event. If it wasn’t for this event I would have been at the hospital with Alex. I’m tired, I admit it, but the proof of this was most evident this morning.
I got the kids up after my shower this morning and gave them breakfast. I got their clothes ready and brought them downstairs. After breakfast, I told them to get their coat and boots on and I packed up my computer and put on my makeup. I grabbed my coat and shoes and hustled the kids out the door.
I kept saying to myself, I’m forgetting something.
Computer? Check.
Purse? No because it’s broken.
Cash/bank card? Check.
Backpacks? Check.
OK, I guess we’re ready. We head out to the car and something’s still nagging me but I can’t put my finger on it. I give Lexy the bags to put in the front seat and she then climbs into her booster seat and puts her seatbelt on.
“Come Cait.” I said as I helped her up and into her car seat. Cait’s giggling.
“What’s so funny?”
“Mommy!” Caity said. “You forgot to get me dressed!”
Oh-my-God, where the heck is my mind? Not only didn’t I get Caity out of her pyjamas, but I forgot to change her diaper! *sigh*. She didn’t even have socks on. Oh well, pyjama day at the sitters’ I guess….
I need some sleep ….

An article in today’s Toronto Star claims that 2009 was a record year for organ donations/transplants. While it doesn’t specifically mention Kidney Transplants, I’m sure they’re in the statistics too.
700 people were helped through some type of organ donation and from both living and deceased donors, but there are still thousands more on the waiting list, some in critical condition.
Please sign your donor card, it could save someone’s life. It saved my Husband’s.

Ok, here’s a bit of a break from the Hospital updates. This story was related to me when I was a nervous wreck last Thursday so it may not be 100% verbatim and I might have taken some editorial liberties, but it should be close enough to give you the gist …
One thing you have to understand before reading this is that I thought this was incredibly funny and considering what we were about to face, I certainly needed the comic relief. Marc’s wife Gina is a warm person, she talks a mile a minute and is very blunt. She’s French Canadian and you know exactly where you stand with her. She means well, but we still tease her nonetheless.
Last Thursday was the day the boys hit the operating table. Marc’s Sister Karen and Gina were already in the Surgical Waiting Room by the time my MIL and I got downtown. Rose stayed with Alex before the surgery and I went in search of the girls (they took Marc into surgery a couple of hours ahead of Alex to harvest the Kidney). Karen told me about her drive down to the Hospital with Gina. They were driving down the Don Valley Parkway towards Toronto when a large truck pulled up in the lane next to them. Karen was driving, so this gave Gina the opportunity to sightsee.
“Look at that truck,” Gina said to Karen. “It’s covered in Braille. It’s nice that they put it on so that the Blind can read what’s in the truck.”
Karen was confused. She looked at the Truck and didn’t see any Braille, she thought Gina was talking about the large lettering painted on the side. “What are you talking about?”
“You see all those bumps? That’s how they read….”
“Gina.” Karen said. “Those are rivets….”
“Oh.” Gina said. “I thought they would have to get pretty close to the truck to find out what it is. It would be pretty dangerous…”
Tears were streaming down my face I was laughing so hard.
