Thanks for replying back Kelly. Yes, we had our shots last Friday. I had to laugh because we get the normal flu shot every year and I always have a sore arm for days afterward. My husband Randy does not. However, this time my arm and his were sore. He could never understand why mine was sore so I was very pleased that his ached this time. He didn't see the humour in that. LOL My arm is still sore so this one must be a little different. That is OK I don't mind at all anything to keep passing this flu around and keeping my hubby and yours healthy.

I thought that was you :) Thanks for dropping by!

Alex got his shot on Saturday at our Doctor's office. He said he even read my blog and shortly there after he "decided" to get the shot. He had been against it until now. His arm is still sore, but otherwise he's had no complications. His Dialysis clinic has finally decided to offer the shots to their patients too. Seems like they're getting on the bandwagon.

We're just taking it day by day and each day he seems to be getting thinner. I'm still hoping for the best, and hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer ...

Have you two had your shots yet? Thanks for your best wishes, they are appreciated :)

I think that I may have missed it but did your husband get the h1n1 shot as well. The last time I remember reading about it the doctors were still debating the pros and cons. Hope all is well with him now and he is conserving his strength for the operation. I read your comments all the time on my neice's blog Durham Region Baby.

What I used to determine whether or not to get the H1N1 vaccination is the fact that I live with someone who has a compromised immune system.

Got my shot earlier this afternoon. So far my head hasn't fallen off and I'm not walking backwards.

Do you get take all vaccines? If not what do you use to determine if you get vaccinated or not? Did you choose to get vaccinated for H1N1 because they have called this a pandemic? Because 100 of 33,000,000 Canadians have died in the last 6 months from this flu? Do you feel our immune systems are not strong enough on their own to naturally defend us?

The article on Healthzone.ca also indicated that the link between Autism and vaccinations (particularly the MMR vaccination) was based on very skewed data - the author of the paper manipulated the data to favour his opinion and that there may not be any link at all.

Re: "for the record..." yes, that's why I said that one of the reasons not to get the shot was if you had an allergy to metal. All vaccinations are preserved with Mercury and one school of thought is that after receiving a lifetime of vaccinations, a person can have a build up of the heavy-metal Mercury in their system.

However, if you eat certain fish (i.e., Salmon), your chances of Mercury poisoning is higher than what you would get from a vaccination. Mercury is in our water system and enters the fish and since they are on the bottom of our food chain, it gets into our system too.

re: "Jefferson is skeptical...". Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the CDC in the U.S. have both confirmed that we are in the middle of a Pandemic, the second wave to be exact. 90 people in Canada are currently hospitalized with the H1N1 Flu virus, many more infected but not hospitalized. The third (and hopefully final) wave is expected to hit in the Spring of 2010.

Another interesting fact I heard is that if you were born prior to 1969, you may have the antibodies already as they were put into vaccinations we received as children for the first round of "Swine Flu" back in the 60's.

I'm getting my kids' shots this afternoon. Mine too if they'll take me, otherwise it'll be Saturday.
